Position: Trustee
Location: Bryn Poeth, Ogwen Valley, Capel Curig, Conwy
Type: Voluntary with payment of reasonable travelling expenses
Are you passionate about mountain safety and supporting a vital community service? The Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) is looking for three new Trustees (2 external, 1 internal).
About OVMRO
Located in the heart of Snowdonia, the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation has been providing search and rescue services to those in need for nearly 60 years. Our team of volunteers is committed to ensuring the safety of the public and offering rescue services in some of the UK’s most challenging terrain. The Organisation undertakes around 170 rescues annually.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking individuals with diverse skills, backgrounds, and experience to help us continue our vital work. As a Trustee, you will play an essential role in guiding the organisation’s strategy, ensuring good governance, and supporting the team of volunteers who give their time and expertise to save lives.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for Trustees with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Governance and Strategic Oversight
- Investment and Fund Management
- Legal & Regulatory Compliance
- Human Resources
- Marketing, Communications & Social Media
A passion for mountain rescue and an understanding of the challenges faced by the Team is essential. You don’t need to be an expert in mountain rescue, but the Team needs a wide range of skills behind the scenes to work effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of the organisation’s strategy
- Act in accordance with the OVMRO Charitable Incorporated Organisation’s Constitution
- Comply with Charity Commission requirements
- Ensure the organisation’s financial health and sustainability.
- Provide guidance and oversight on risk management
- Ensure the Organisation has clear policies on key issues
- Represent the organisation to external stakeholders, partners, and the public
- Contribute to fundraising efforts and help raise awareness of the charity’s work.

Time Commitment
- Trustees are expected to attend regular board meetings (typically quarterly), the Annual General Meeting and provide support as required
- Trustees are frequently required to manage OVMRO e-mail correspondence and support decision-making.
